The Big Sleep Conference: Understanding Infant Sleep

Bringing together evidence, expertise and responsive practice to better support babies and families.

To celebrate 30 years of AiMH UK, we’re bringing together an exceptional line-up of leading researchers, clinicians and practitioners for our 2026 National Conference, exploring one of the most talked-about challenges facing parents and professionals – infant sleep.

Moving beyond the idea of sleep as a problem to be fixed, The Big Sleep Conference will explore the biological, developmental and emotional aspects of babies’ sleep, the importance of relationships and responsive care, and how we can better support families with evidence-informed, practical approaches.

Featuring expert presentations from Dr Alexandra de Rementeria and Professor Helen Ball, an interactive 90-minute workshop with Lyndsey Hookway, and a unique opportunity to explore real clinical cases with internationally renowned parent-infant psychotherapist Bjorn Salomonsson, the programme promises a rich and thought-provoking day of learning.

Celebrating 30 Years of AiMH UK!

This year’s conference is particularly special as we mark three decades of championing infant mental health. Our anniversary celebrations will include:

  • A special conversation with AiMH UK founder Dilys Daws, in discussion with our President, Professor Jane Barlow, reflecting on her pioneering work with babies and families.
  • The presentation of our Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising an outstanding contribution to infant mental health.
  • 30 Gems for Baby-Focussed Practice – celebrating 30 years of learning, knowledge and insights to inspire professional practice.
  • A special 30th anniversary gift for attendees, a keepsake to mark this important milestone in AiMH UK’s history.

Join us on Wednesday 18 November 2026, from 9.30am to 3.00pm, online via Zoom, for an inspiring day of fresh perspectives, practical insights, professional reflection and celebration.

We look forward to celebrating 30 years of AiMH UK with you!
