‘Facilitating a psychoanalytic parent, baby and toddler group for refugee and asylum-seeking families’

Dr Teresa Sarmiento, Fatima Martinez Del Solar and Professor Inge Pretorius will share about their work running and supervising a Psychoanalytic Parent Baby and Toddler Group for Refugees and Asylum Seeking Families.

Friday 5th May 1.50- 3.30pm

The speakers will share the history of the group, the psychoanalytic model for the group and illustrate how this clinical work takes place in practice and  the impact it has on babies, children and families in the group. 
Programme

1.50pm: Welcome & Introduction from Debbie Brace

2pm -3.15pm: Presentations:

  • Ms Fatima Martinez del Solar, Psychoanalyst and Group Manager, who ran therapeutic groups in the community in South London for several years.
  • Dr Teresa Sarmiento, Parent-Infant Psychotherapist/Clinical Psychologist, who has worked in Parent Infant services and CAMHS for many years in the NHS.
  • Professor Inge-Martine Pretorious, Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, who has run and supervised Psychoanalytic Parent Toddler groups for many years and is the group’s supervisor.

3.15pm – 3.30pm: Q&A (questions fielded by Coretta Ogbuagu)
